As I’ve previously noted, Yahoo 360 is one of the most popular blogging platforms in Vietnam. I’ve long wondered why because I find Yahoo 360 messy and not very user-friendly (or at least reader-friendly). I think that the popularity of Yahoo chat rooms in Vietnam makes sense as one factor. Yahoo is paying attention- the company recently released a special version of Yahoo 360 just for the Vietnam market (Yahoo 360 plus).
One of Saigon Nezumi’s commenter notes, anecdotally, that it has not been well-received, partially because a user’s profile is not integrated with other Yahoo products, which seems ill-planned if true. Saigon Nezumi himself guesses that if the new Yahoo 360 only focuses on the Vietnamese market by not offering the product in English and other languages, it will lose out to Facebook. I would say that’s a reasonable expectation, even if Yahoo 360 plus is released in multiple languages. I know from personal anecdotal evidence that I communicate with my Vietnamese friends almost exclusively through Facebook.

None of what Yahoo is doing makes much sense right now. They’ve pretty much killed 360 everywhere else and are supposed to be working on single profile system for all of their services that includes a blogging platform. Why they would introduce 360 Plus to Viet Nam makes no sense to me.
